The Paleo Diet Explained & An Easy Paleo Meal Plan

Mar 27, 2014 | Meal Planning | 0 comments

Sure you've heard about the Paleo diet, but is everything you've heard true? This straightforward article is perfect for Paleo for beginners.

The Paleo diet has been growing in popularity lately, though it has roots all the way back in prehistoric times. The Paleo diet, also known as the Caveman diet, relies on the same food sources that our ancestors ate thousands of years ago. It focuses on the vegetables, fruits, nuts, roots, meat and seafood that were the staples of the diet and eliminates the refined sugars and flours and processed foods that have become a large part of the American diet.

People with auto immune issues often see improvements with this style of eating. It is also helpful for someone who has gone gluten-free and seen a benefit but is still having digestive issues or other lingering symptoms. Some possible benefits of the Paleo diet include weight loss, improved cardiovascular health, and diabetes control or prevention. While further research is still needed to be able to link the Paleo diet to a disease-free and longer life, the massive popularity of the Paleo diet reinforces the fact that it really does work well for many people.

Starting April 1, Prep Dish will begin offering Paleo meal plans in addition to the gluten-free meal plans we have always offered. Both Prep Dish meal plans are based on real, whole, unprocessed foods and utilize the delicious recipes that I've been using with personal chef clients for years! Check out all the details of the new Paleo meal plan and try out a subscription! You'll receive an email every Friday with a link to that week's meal plans + tips for spending 2-3 hours for prepping all your food for the week.

Levels of Paleo:
Unlike gluten-free, which is pretty black & white for those of us or are intolerant/ allergic (no gluten, 100% of the time), Paleo has different levels.
Here's an explanation of the “7 Shades” of Paleo.
