These Food Storage Tips are key if you want to make healthy meal prep work. Keep food fresh so it tastes great and doesn't go to waste.
At Prep Dish I believe in family meals. I also believe that mealtime should be easy & stress-free. How? My method involves devoting a few hours, one day each week to prepping your meals for the week (this is the same process I use for my personal chef clients I cook for here in Austin). I save you loads of planning time by organizing grocery lists and developing step-by-step Prep Day instructions and instructions for Day Of preparation.
Prep Dish gluten-free and paleo meal plans do not require fancy equipment or ingredients (they're all “whole foods” based). However, with all that prepping ahead, adequate storage containers are a must! Glass containers are best. Look for tempered glass (meaning it can withstand a range of temps from freezer cold to oven hot*). If you must do plastic, look for BPA-free containers. Lids should also be BPA free.
I love these Snapware glass containers.
Paired with these re-usable labels.
Seriously, these labels are awesome, esp when freezing items you can include the date. Use a sharpie to write on the label. They come with an eraser, but I've found wiping with a towel also “erases”.
*even tempered glass has its limits…. don't take a glass container directly from the oven and place under cold water… it WILL burst causing an explosion of glass!
