I get it. It's easier to show you than to tell you. So I'm going to go into as much detail as I can to explain what a Prep Dish meal planning subscription includes but I encourage you to check out our free trial at the bottom of the post too to check out our easy, healthy meal plans for yourself!

Meal Planning Subscription Overview – What's Included

With our meal planning subscription, subscribers receive 4 meal prep meal plans each Friday. I'll go into detail on each of the 4 meal plans below, but first, here are the three components that make up each meal plan.

The organized grocery list is divided by grocery store section to make shopping easier.

It's also number-coded by meal. So all of the ingredients for meal 1 have a little “1” next to them. This makes it super easy to customize your grocery list if there's a meal you want to omit or one you want to double.

I definitely recommend printing out your grocery list so you can easily mark it up and make it your own!

One other note on our grocery lists – we care about your grocery budget and never want you to buy a specialty ingredient you'll never use the rest of. We make sure you'll actually use the ingredients on the grocery list. If you use a few stalks of celery in one recipe, you'll use the rest in another!

Prep Day – The Key to Our Meal Prep Meal Plans!

While our grocery list is quite useful, our Prep Day plan is really the signature tool that sets us apart from other meal planning subscriptions.

The Prep Day plan outlines exactly what you'll need to do to prep the week's meals ahead in the most efficient way possible.

We worry about the details, like making sure everything cooks at the same temperature in the oven so you can prep multiple ingredients at once. All you'll need to do is turn on your favorite music or podcast and follow the simple steps!

The other thing I want to mention about Prep Day is that it does NOT mean you'll be eating leftovers every day. You'll wash and chop produce, mix simple spice blends and make sauces and dressings ahead of time but, for most recipes, will finish cooking on Dish Day so everything tastes fresh.

Finally, the last step is Dish Day!

This is the fun part 🙂

When you get home from a busy day at work or are trying to placate your children during “witching hour,” it feels SO good to come home and have everything prepped to throw together a healthy, homemade dinner that tastes gourmet.

We keep the hands-on time super minimal for Dish Day so if you're a working parent or someone with a crazy schedule, don't worry, this is made for you!

We're proud to be a company of moms at Prep Dish. We all love our work, but also have kiddos at home and love spending time with them. We understand the challenge and that really shines through in our meal plans. These are healthy meal plans for families. (No worries if you don't have kids though, we have plenty of single and couple subscribers, as well as subscribers with grown kids!)

Prep Dish Meal Planning Subscription – 4 Weekly Meal Prep Meal Plans

Now that you know how our meal prep system works, let's take a look at the food!

No matter how great it feels to have a done-for-you plan for dinnertime, it's not super useful if you don't like the food. Well, not to worry, we're pretty proud of the food we get to enjoy here at Prep Dish. I have a background as both a chef and a dietitian and I always say, taste is #1! No matter how healthy the food is, if it doesn't taste good, no one will want to eat it.

We also offer substitution ideas in our weekly subscriber emails and are always available in our Facebook Group to answer specific questions and help with swapping ingredients. We're a small company and that means personalized support. Whether you're dealing with food allergies, picky kids, or a special diet, we've got you covered!

Plus, all subscribers receive all four meal plans every week. This means you have lots of choices to select the plan that best fits your family preferences after browsing the menus every week.

One more thing I want to point out before I give you a peek at the menus – while we do offer gluten free, paleo and low carb meal plans for those who need them, many of our subscribers simply want healthy, clean eating meal plans, without following a specific diet. Don't worry, these meal plans work well for that approach too! Our Super Fast meal plan does not follow any specific diet, but plenty of people also use our other meal plans and adapt to fit their own way of eating and family preferences.

Our weekly gluten free meal plans include 4 dinners, 1 salad, 1 breakfast, 1 snack and 1 dessert. Some people prep the whole menu and others just prep the dinners – remember, it's easy to customize with our number-coded grocery list!

Why 4 dinners? I find many people have family favorites they still want to enjoy, have leftovers, or like to incorporate dining out here and there. You can always add recipes from another meal plan if you need more dinners each week!

What about lunch?

Many people add a protein and use the meal prep salad for lunch. Others double up the dinner recipes and use leftovers for lunches. I also created a gluten free lunch meal prep guide to give you some ideas for healthy, easy-to-prep lunches!

I myself am totally gluten free but if you're not, plenty of our subscribers who just love clean eating recipes follow our gluten free meal plans. They're flexible!

Simple Paleo Meal Plans

Just like our gluten free meal plans, our weekly paleo meal plans include 4 dinners, 1 salad, 1 breakfast, 1 snack and 1 dessert. Unlike our gluten free meal plans, these do not include grains, legumes and non-paleo friendly ingredients like tamari.

You'll find that these are family-friendly paleo meals with plenty of healthified favorites like the lasagna and pulled pork pictured above!

Our paleo meal plans also work quite well for Whole30 if you omit the dessert. (You can also check out my Whole30-friendly reset meal plans here!)

Each low carb meal plan also includes macro information so you'll know how many grams of carbs and net carbs each meal includes.

I'm a big believer in including plenty of low carb veggies, and even low carb fruit, in our low carb meal plans to keep you feeling good!

Finally, we have our latest addition to the weekly meal plans and, I admit, the one I've been using the most lately, our Super Fast meal plans!

These quick meal plans are perfect for those busy weeks when you simply feel like you have no time for meal prep. While our other meal plans typically require about 2 hours of prep time, our Super Fast meal plans are designed to take only 1 hour! In that 1 hour, you'll prep 5 healthy dinners.

Our Super Fast meal plans don't include any of the extras like snacks and desserts because when we polled our subscribers they said they wanted just dinners for those crazy weeks. Since all subscribers receive all four meal plans though, you can easily add a breakfast or salad from another meal plan if you like.

Our Super Fast meal plans are also great for the budget-conscious. As these quick meal plans tend to be simpler in order to keep prep time to a minimum, they also tend to have fewer ingredients, making for a lower grocery bill.

What about picky kids? What makes these the best healthy meal plans for families?

I truly believe that Prep Dish makes the best healthy meal plans for families. Why? Because we are a company of moms and we GET the desire to serve healthy food, that your family will actually eat and enjoy.

We always strive to serve family-friendly food that adults and kiddos will love, without resorting to serving only “kid food” like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. You simply never know what kids are going to love if you don't offer it!

We've heard time and time again that our subscribers are surprised at which Prep Dish meals their kids love. If you're not sure whether your own kids will eat the food, I urge you take a look at our subscribers' kids' favorites from the last couple of years (2020 kid favorites here & 2021 kid favorites here). You may be surprised at some of the meals the kids loved!

Do these meal plans work for food allergies?

Food allergies can be so tough, I get it. Every week in our subscriber emails, we provide subs to omit nuts, pork, seafood and meat from our gluten free, paleo and super fast meal plans. Dairy is always optional on our meal plans, with the exception of the low carb meal plan.

What about vegetarian?

We don't currently offer vegetarian meal plans but we do include one meatless meal on most of our gluten free and super fast meal plans. We also always include tips for how to adapt our gluten free, paleo and super fast meal plans to be vegetarian in our weekly subscriber emails.
